This is the first of a series of posts I will be doing on affordable wedding dresses. Wedding dresses are notoriously expensive, and usually with good reason; they are made from the finest lace and silks and feature the best stitching skills.

But for those of us who can't afford the Vera Wangs and Alice Temperleys of the wedding dress world, the bargain wedding dress pickings are a bit slim. Most cheap wedding dresses are, how shall I put it, crap. They're stiff, shiny and look as though they'll go up in flames if you stand too near a candle.

But brides on a budget need not be discouraged. Over this Monday series I will be showcasing some beautiful wedding dresses, in various styles, which have a very low price tag. They come from wedding designers, the high street and Etsy.
