Affordable Wedding Dresses - 1920s

So I've already done a Great Gatsby inspired Affordable Wedding Dresses post before but this is less flapper and more classic, long wedding dresses with a twenties feel, like Clara Bow's dress above.

1920s wedding dresses are very popular at the moment, partly due to the release of The Great Gatsby film but also because the decadence and style of the era is ideal for weddings. I've found a few lovely twenties-themed dresses, including a genuine vintage 1920s wedding dress, which are all affordable.

Vintage Ivory Cowl Wedding Dress - Elliot Claire

I featured an Elliot Claire dress last week on my affordable green wedding dresses post. I'd only seen the company on Not On The High Street before but I've now realised that they have a website with a lot more lovely dresses. If you want to waste an afternoon check it out. This dress is one of their wedding gowns. It has a twenties/thirties feel to it with the draped front and back.

It has a lovely A-line fit which is extremely flattering on most figures.

Vintage 1920s Wedding Dress - Etsy

This beautiful satin and lace dress is a genuine vintage 1920s wedding gown from Etsy Seller DaintyRascal. It's so lovely it makes my eyes hurt!

It's made from soft satin in a champagne colour and has an off the shoulder style with vintage lace filling the gap. This would be a dress that you'd feel really special in.

Margot Dress - Ruche

I had to include one short flapper-style dress on the list. This Ruche wedding dress has a Gatsby style that's mixed with the feel of a dainty tea dress. It's perfect for a garden or summer wedding.

It has a layered skirt which adds interest and pretty flared sleeves that make the arms look great. It's from Ruche's bridal range, which includes a lot of short and affordable wedding dresses.

Somerset by Alice Temperley Beaded Dress in Dove - John Lewis

This grey dress provides the chance to wear an Alice Temperley dress to your wedding without paying the huge price tag of a Temperley bridal gown. The Alice Temperley Somerset collection for John Lewis offers a more affordable selection of Temperley clothes, including this lovely grey dress.

Grey is a little unusual for a wedding but it's a really lovely, soft option. This dress is a long flapper style with beaded embellishments.

The dropped waist gown comes with a black sash that you can use to show off your curves or wear as a scarf.

Affordable Wedding Dresses - Green Queen

This is my last coloured affordable wedding dresses post for a while; next Monday I'll be back to classic white styles, scroll to the bottom of this post to find out the theme.

I think green is a great colour to end on. From deep emerald to cool mint, green opens up a range of options for weddings.

This week's green affordable wedding dresses are inspired by two of Elizabeth Taylor's wedding gowns. She wore the first one to her fourth wedding to Eddie Fisher in 1959.

It's a beautiful deep green and a classic cinched in style that showed off her famously slim waist. Who would have thought a hood would work on a wedding dress?

Liz obviously liked green as she wore it again at her sixth wedding and second one to Richard Burton. Her dress is a light shade of green with a floaty ethereal feel.

These two styles really showcase the versatility of green as a wedding dress colour; it can be classic and elegant or bohemian and floaty.

That's enough about Liz's dresses, which surely cost a fortune. I've gathered together a selection of beautiful green wedding dresses that all have a low price tag. Check them out below.

This green dress is just stunning. It's actually a bridesmaid's dress by Elliot Claire London, but I think it could definitely be worn as a wedding dress. Plus, you'll only pay a bridesmaid dress price for it.

This is another bridesmaid dress that would make a great green wedding dress. It's from Australian company Sentani (they ship to the UK) and is a barely there shade of mint. It's ideal if you want a subtle touch of colour but still want a traditional look.

It's a classic style with a lace bodice and silk chiffon skirt. I love the capped sleeves.

This is a genuine vintage 60s dress from Etsy seller Dainty Rascal, ideal if you're having a 60s themed wedding and want the real thing. It's an unusual style with light silk chiffon over heavy silk taffeta.

I love the low back and the lace sleeves. It's ideal for a woodland wedding.

If you want to opt for a short wedding dress in a green shade then this gorgeous emerald dress from Dig For Victory is ideal. It's got a 40s/50s feel and provides an hourglass silouette that's flattering on anyone.

I love the deep green shade and the three-quarter sleeves. It's perfect for a city hall wedding.

This beautiful dress is not only a lush shade of green, it also has a feel of the green dress that Keira Knightly wore in Atonement.

Affordable Wedding Dresses - Gold

I've only got a few more coloured affordable wedding dresses before I get back to good old fashioned white gowns. This week it's gold. Gold is only a quick step from white; it still allows you to keep a traditional look on your big day but also add something a little bit different.

Gold equates to glamour; if your after a golden gown then chances are you're going for an upmarket day and dress, like Serena's wedding dress in Gossip Girl. This doesn't necessarily mean that you have to spend a lot on your wedding dress; I've tracked down some golden lovelies that would make perfect wedding dresses. Plus, they're all under £250.

The Sounds of Soul Dress - ModCloth

This beautiful golden gown would make a perfect wedding dress, especially if you are after a soulful twenties or thirties theme. It's got a simple and flattering cut that allows the gold and cream sequin detail to, literally, shine.

You could style this a number of ways, but I suggest keeping accessories to a minimum and rocking some Hollywood waves in the hair.

1950s Floor Length Evening Dress - Etsy

This light gold fifties dress is perfect for a Mad Men style wedding. It's an original vintage dress so you'll know you're wearing a piece of the past.

Twenties-Style Wedding Dresses on the Cheap

So this week's affordable wedding dresses are inspired by the flapper style of the twenties. Think decadence, freedom and lots of sequins. All of these twenties wedding dresses are under £600 so they won't break the bank.

This lovely twenties wedding dress from Etsy shop Bonnie in Disguise is a genuine vintage flapper dress from the 1920s. It's perfect if you want the real deal. Apparently it belonged to the mother of Corrine Larson who was married to baseball legend Don Larson. This dress definitely has history to it.

This is a great flapper wedding dress from ASOS. It's more casual than some designs but it can be dressed up and it's ideal for a laid back wedding.

This full-length dress isn't the classic short flapper style, but it has the embellished feel of the twenties. The beads and sequins immediately draw the eye but I also love the nude colour; it makes it different to the generic white dress.

This Gatsby-style dress from Etsy seller Concetta's Closet is a classic twenties dress. It's another genuine vintage dress so you'd be wearing a piece of history.
