For the last week or so there's been a touch of freshness in the air and daffodils and crocuses have been cropping up everywhere. I love the first signs of spring, you forget what it feels like then every year it surprises you.

Here are a few pictures I've taken over the last few weeks on my adventures with this guy.

If I Were A Rich (Wo)Man: ModCloth Dresses

This Week's Wishlist is Filled with ModCloth's Vintage-Style Dresses

I know my If I Were A Rich (Wo)Man wishlists are usually made up of items from several different retailers, but ModCloth, purveyor of vintage and vintage-inspired clothes, has so many beautiful dresses at the moment that I want them all.

I've made a collection of a few of my favourite ones, though it's difficult to narrow them down.

Two if by Tea Dress

Blue and White Two If By Tea Dress - ModCloth

This is possibly my favourite dress of the whole lot; the Two if by Tea Dress has a classic blue and white damask print. Just looking at it makes me think of summer. It's ideal for a lawn party, not that I go to many of them.

Price: $155.99

Sweetest Surprise Dress

Backless Dress - Sweetest Surprise - ModCloth

Another summery special, the Sweetest Surprise Dress is structured and flattering. I love the print and the 60s feel, plus, it has a great back design.

Price: $124.99

See You Swoon Dress in Cream

Cream Maxi Dress - See You Swoon - ModCloth

This is a simple white dress but it's also stunning. See You Swoon Dress would actually be an ideal addition to my Affordable Wedding Dresses series, but I'd like to wear it for other occasions too. It looks perfect for a beach.

Cream Maxi Dress - See You Swoon - ModCloth

Price: $99.99

Mountain Dwelling Dress

Green Dress - Mountain Dwelling - ModCloth

This tunic-style Mountain Dwelling Dress is ideal for summer but I bet it also looks great in the winter with tights, boots and a chunky cardigan. I love dresses that you can wear all year round. I also really like the abstract mountain scenery design on the dress.

Price: $49.99

Train Station Platform Dress

Striped Dress - Train Station Platform - ModCloth

I love the classic simplicity of the Train Station Platform Dress, including the stripe design. It looks very cool and comfortable, plus, it's another one that can be worn all year round.

Striped Dress - Train Station Platform - ModCloth

$99.99

Before I go, can I just give praise to the ModCloth copywriters; have you seen the product descriptions for the clothing? Instead of just; a pretty dress with a fit and flare style, or whatever, they write full on stories. This last dress is described as:

"Standing beside the tracks, you spot the outbound train approaching the station and finally hear those long-awaited words - “all aboard!” You’ve been looking forward to your westward journey ever since you booked the tickets, and your excitement is elegantly exhibited in your ModCloth-exclusive striped dress!"

As a writer myself who often works on product descriptions I know how hard it is to come up with new and original descriptions, especially when you're writing the fiftieth one that day.

Kudos to ModCloth!

If I Were A Rich (Wo)Man Wishlist - Valentine's Day Lingerie

Happy Valentine's Day!

I'm not really a Valentine's Day fan, but I am a fan of lingerie. There's always an abundance of lovely lingerie on sale around Valentine's day. Here are few of my favourites.

They're not all red, I promise.

The Vintage Lingerie Set

Marlene Lingerie Set from What Katie Did

OK, this one is red, but it's not tacky and covered in hearts. The Marlene Lingerie Set from What Katy Did is based on a genuine '50s vintage design. The contrast of lipstick red and peach satin has a luxurious as well as fun feel. Go the whole hog and don a bit of red lipstick and retro curls with this lingerie set.

Priced: Marlene suspender belt £35.50, Marlene knickers £29.50, Marlene bullet bra £39.50

The Corset

Mercy Corset from Agent Provocateur

You don't always have to go for black or red, white lingerie can be just as sexy. The Mercy Corset in (appropriately named) Flesh from Agent Provocateur proves this point.

Mercy Corset from Agent Provocateur

This corset gives a classic '50s look with the hour glass style. The boning is very flattering and I particularly love the traditional lace up ties at the back.

Mercy Corset from Agent Provocateur

Priced: £345

The Teddy

Satin and Lace Teddy from Victoria's Secret

The colour is what caught me about this Satin and Lace Teddy from Victoria' Secret. The shade is called Hazy Lavender trimmed with Grace Lace. It's a lovely change from the usual lingerie colour plus it's a flattering shape.

Priced: $58

The Babydoll

Tamsin Lace Babydoll and Briefs from Boux Avenue

This is a very Valentine's Day lingerie set with the red and the lace, but it still manages to be classy. I love the mix of lace and satin in the Tamsin Lace Babydoll and Briefs set from Boux Avenue.

Tamsin Lace Babydoll and Briefs from Boux Avenue

It's a simple set but one that's sweet and sexy.

Priced: £35

That's all folks.

If I Were A Rich (Wo)Man Wishlist - Earrings

This Week's Wishlist is Giving Me An Earful

Excuse the bad pun, but this week's collection of expensive lovelies is themed on earrings. Why, I hear you ask? Why not I say; earrings are one of my favourite jewellery types; they can make any outfit and light up a face. Here are four of my favourites.

The Chandelier Earrings

Kate Spade Chandelier Earrings from Selfridges

You've got to love a good pair of chandelier earrings; you immediately feel fabulous whenever you put them on and they give any outfit a dramatic edge. I love the coffee colour of these Kate Spade Chandelier Earrings from Selfridges. They're flecked with gold glitter to add a bit of sparkle.

Priced £80

The Stud Earrings

Turquoise Stud earrings from Boticca

People tend to ignore stud earrings; you wear them when you're a 12 year old with freshly pierced and painful ears, then you put them to the back of your jewellery box and forget them. But studs can add a subtle lift to your look. I particularly like these Turquoise Stud Earrings by Toosis at Boticca.

Turquoise Stud earrings from Boticca

They're a little larger than your average stud earrings so make a bit more of an impact, plus, I love the contrast of turquoise and gold.

Priced £35.50

The Pendant Earring

Tiny Sin Pendant Earring from Smith & Grey

This dainty but devilish Tiny Sin Pendant Earring is from the new Pearlgatory collection from Smith/Grey. The Pearlgatory is described as "a place of purification and temporary punishment." Sounds like a fun spot to be. The earring is designed to be worn by itself instead of a pair and features a tiny safety pin combined with a dark pendant drop.

Priced £115 for one

The Delicate Earrings

What's Vine is Yours Earrings from ModCloth

These pretty What's Vine is Your Earrings from ModCloth caught my eye; I love the nature theme and the simplicity of the gold and white.

What's Vine is Yours Earrings from ModCloth

They're not actually available yet but they are coming soon.

Priced $44.99

That's all folks, see you all next week.

If I Were A Rich (Wo)Man - Chinese New Year

This is a little late, apologies, but the January illness still had a hold of me yesterday. It's still got me today but it's now February so it's not quite as strong.

This week's (belated) If I Were A Rich (Wo)Man wishlist is inspired by the Chinese New Year. I don't usually like to cash in on these things, but I've noticed a lot of lovely oriental-inspired homewares recently so the timing seemed pretty good.

So here you are, four of the best, and most expensive, Chinese-themed home products.

The Oriental Rug

Oriental rug

This lovely Kodari Garland rug from Kelaty has a distinct oriental feel with the blossom detail. I love the peacock colours of blue, green and purple. It also comes in red.

Oriental rug

It makes a great central piece for a room.

Priced from £1,067

The Chinese Horse

Chinese stone horse

I don't know why I like this Stone Horse from Shimu so much, but I really do. The horse is sourced from Guilin in southern China and is crafted from stone. The rustic feel of it is timeless. Also, it is the Chinese year of the horse, so this ornament is particularly fitting for this wishlist.

Priced £79

The Chinese Cabinet

Chinese sideboard

Orchid are the top UK purveyor of Chinese furniture and antiques, this Red Decorated Sideboard is a great example their amazing pieces. I love the detail and the traditional Chinese feel. Also the deep red colour is beautiful.

The Chinese Tea Jar

Chinese tea jar

Infused with an oriental feel, this Darlian Blue and White Ceramic Tea Jar from Artisanti depicts scenes from traditional Chinese life. Blue and white is a timeless mix that gives this piece an authentic Chinese look. It would be great for its original use as a tea caddy, or would look lovely just displayed on a shelf.

That's all for this week, have a happy Chinese New Year!

If I Were A Rich (Wo)Man - Clocks

Keep Time with This Week's Clock-full Wishlist

I'm still into the home purchases and this week's wishlist features clocks. I love clocks, not just because they tell time, but because they can be decorative pieces as well. Here are my top clocks, at top prices.

The Mantel Clock

Quirky Ceramic Mantel Clock by Ian Roberts

This Quirky Ceramic Mantel Clock by Ian Roberts is weird and wonderful. Available from Iapetus, the clock is handmade and painted a light blue. I love the surreal look and the twist on the traditional mantel piece clock.

Priced £159

The Vintage Clock

Vintage Metropolitan Large Round Wall Clock

I love this railway station style clock from Artisanti. The Metropolitan Large Round Wall Clock has a grey aged metal rim and an antiqued white face with Roman numerals. It's perfect for a vintage look in the home, though it is a metre wide so you'll need plenty of wall space.

Priced £204

The Colourful Clock

Aqua Industrial Wall Clock from Littlewoods

The rather unimaginatively named Wall Clock with Solid Centre from Littlewoods is a great mix of old and new; the aqua colour provides a fresh, modern feel while the distressed industrial look gives it a traditional look. I also love that it has cogs on display.

Priced £45

The Map Clock

Personalised Map Clock

The Personalised Map Clock from The Contemporary Home makes a great gift, but I'd like to buy one just for myself. You can select the map area you want by providing a postcode; you could have your home, where you grew up, or somewhere else meaningful. I also love that the map has an aged look; very vintage.

Priced £46

That's all for this week.

Happy Friday!

If I Were A Rich (Wo)Man - Sofa Seating

I'm still very much into my home products at the moment, last week it was crockery, this week it's sofas. It's a rather random choice for a wishlist I know, but I just keep spotting really lovely seating. Maybe it's because my own sofa is covered in fur and dog foot prints from this guy.

Dog

Anyway, here are some lovely sofas that my dog would definitely not be allowed anywhere near.

The Striped Sofa

Stripe Vintage Sofa

The Twin Stripe Sofa from Sweet Pea and Willow is an original design that combines a modern feeling with traditional touches. The neautral colour would blend with most colour schemes but the beige does not make it boring, this is a really fun sofa that also has an elegant look.

Priced £1095

The Love Seat

Purple Vintage Love Seat Sofa

I'm not usually into purple in the home but I love the sumptuous shades in the French Funky Upholstered Designer Love Seat from Chichi Furniture. Combined with the silver frame it's a luxurious sofa but also a, dare I say it, 'funky' one. It's also got a bit of a Great Gatsby feel, which you've got to love.

Purple Vintage Love Seat Sofa

Priced £1249.99

The Chaise Longue

Vintage Chaise Longue

It's not technically a sofa but the Versailles Gold Chaise Longue from The French Bedroom Company is so beautiful that I had to include it on this wishlist. If you were going to lie around on this then you'd have to be wearing some kind of flowing nightie. It's the perfect thing to faint onto.

Priced £1060

The Blue Sofa

Blue vintage Debenhams sofa

This is a rather simple sofa, but I love the deep blue colour and the vintage style. The Chesterfield sofa from Debenhams also looks rather squishy and comfy, which is what I really look for in a sofa.

Priced £800, it's down from £2000 so it's practically a bargain!

That's all for this week folks.

Happy Friday!
