Disney Villain Tattoos

The release of Maleficent the film has seen the spotlight turned on vintage Disney villains. But for some these villains from our childhood have always stayed with us. In tattoo form.

Disney tattoos have always been popular but most opt for the sweet Disney princesses and lovable characters, not many go for the villains. But, let's face it, the villains are always the best. And many people get them tattooed on themselves forever; either to prolong a memory, symbolise a 'screw you' point of view, or just because they like them.

I've collected a selection of amazing Disney villain tattoos featuring some of the most famous and terrifying baddies from Disney's films.

Evil Queen Tattoos

Let's go back to the beginning, to the very first Disney feature length film, Snow White. The evil queen was the perfect foil to the soppy, high pitched princess. She manages to be terrifying without looking like a monster, the most scary type of villain.

Ursula Tattoos

Ursula from The Little Mermaid is another popular Disney villain tattoo. She's got attitude, she's fun and she's working it for curvy women everywhere.

Maleficent Tattoos

Before the latest film came out people were already getting tattoos of vintage Disney villain Maleficent. She combines steely beauty with a devilish appearance and manages to take the edge off the sugary sweet film.

Also, even though the film has just come out, people are already starting to get tattoos of Angelina Jolie as Maleficent. This one is amazingly realistic.

Hades Tattoos

The female Disney villains seem to be the most popular as tattoo subjects, but here's a man who's appeared on a fair amount of skin. Hades from Hercules is a great villain, he mixes a fearful exterior and terrifying smile with comedy and the great voice of James Woods.

Tattoo Trends - Flowers

Tattoo Trends - Flowers

My last Tattoo Trends post was about rose designs, while researching it I found a lot of other floral tattoos that I wanted to share with you.

Flowers and plants are one of the most popular tattoo themes and they have been featured in designs since the beginnings of body art.

They represent nature and getting back to your roots. Plus, different flowers have different meanings and are often picked to symbolise loved ones.

Nowadays, floral tattoos are most often seen on women, as they're considered more 'feminine,' but men have been getting floral art for decades too, usually as a way to represent a woman.

Here are a few of my favourite floral designs, fitting for this lovely Spring weather and all the plants cropping up!

I particularly like the vintage style black and white floral tattoos that are cropping up at the moment, they look like ink drawings.

Also, water colour flower designs look great and make a change to the traditional style of tattoo.

Tattoo Trends - Roses

I haven't done a tattoo post in a while and I miss it. This time it's a classic theme; roses.

Roses are one of the oldest tattoo options; they have been popular since the beginning of the 20th century.

Rose tattoos are popular because of their symbolism of beauty and love; two of the most sort after of attributes in life.

A rose also often represents femininity and lots of men, especially sailors, used to get a rose tattooed on them to symbolise their girlfriends or mothers.

The rose is one of the most popular flowers and has been immortalised in art and literature; it makes sense that the rose is also captured in tattoo art as well.

However, rose tattoos can very easily become tacky, or just plain badly done.

Or you could end up with roses tattooed all over your arse like Cheryl Cole.

Seriously, what was she thinking?

But when rose tattoos are done right they can be just beautiful, whether they're little...

Tattoo Trends: Foxes

13 Gorgeous Fox Tattoos

Fox tattoos seem to have been growing in popularity in the last few years. This may be because there has been a big surge in popularity for anything woodland; not just in tattoos but fashion and home too. Foxes are one of the favourite woodland symbols. In fact, I've done a Tattoo Trends post on animal tattoos before, and this fox tattoo was by far the most popular on Pinterest.

Traditionally, a fox symbolises intelligence, cunning, and often trickery. People choose to have them tattooed to reference these features as well as a sense of fun, wildness and an affinity with nature.

I've gathered together a few of my favourite fox tattoos that I've seen around the web; there are some stunningly amazing ones done by very talented artists.

A lot of fox tattoos are realistic and have a traditional feel.

Other people are choosing to have more cartoon styled fox tattoos, or ones with a surrealistic feel.

Geometric tattoos are incredibly popular at the moment and fox tattoos have not escaped the geometric styling.

Finally, I also found this amazing Rosie's Walk tattoo. Anyone else remember this book?
