Lovely Tableware Sets to Get Your Mouth Watering

There's something about January that makes me want to nest and clean the house. It's probably the stereotypical new year new start thing; it makes me do a massive clean out in January. The only problem is that I then get a huge urge to buy all new homeware.

Last week I was dreaming about new bedding, this week I've been looking at tableware sets.

I'm spectacularly broke this month so I won't be purchasing any of this lovely crockery, but I can still wish.

The Blue Set

There's something so classic about blue and white, in all sorts of homewares, not just dining. I like the delicacy of the design of the Blue Hand-Painted Ceramic set by David Pantling from Iapetus, especially when contrasted with the chunkiness of the pottery.

This teapot is amazing, very Alice in Wonderland.

I feel this is a mug I could have a proper cup of tea in.

Unfortunately the mug alone is £19.95.

The Ethnic Set

The Wanderer crockery collection from Creative Tops is inspired by travel and Far Eastern markets. I like that the dinner set is full of colour and you can mix and match pieces instead of having all the same shades and pattern. It's very eclectic.

The set isn't available until February 2014. The pieces are actually quite reasonably priced, but I'd want to buy them all, which would definitely set me back.

The Luxury Set

The Butterfly Home Range by Matthew Williamson from Debenhams includes a lovely peacock tea set. Including a teapot, cake stand, cups, saucers and more, the collection has a vintage feel and is colourful but muted.

The tableware range also has a slight Oriental look, with the peacocks and the detailing.

The Cartoon Set

The Moomins, who doesn't love them? The classic cartoon is iconic and easily identifiable. Cloudberry Living has a fun range of Arabia Moomin Adventure tableware which I would love to have in my kitchen.

I like the limited use of colour; it highlights the main black and white images.

If I Were A Rich Wo(Man): Animal House

Welcome to another list of beautiful items that I can't afford. Following on from last week's woodland trend theme, this week's wishlist is based on animals. Critters of all types seem to be popping up in fashion and homewares at the moment and I'm not complaining.

The fox is a a popular woodland motif and one that always seem to be in fashion. I particularly love this Prowling Fox Ring by the very talented jewellery designer Alex Monroe.

It's from his collection The Chase, which features all manner of forest creatures. I'm not sure if I prefer it in gold or silver.

This Cheshire Cat White Cuddly Cushion by Rory Dobner for Liberty ties into the ever popular Alice in Wonderland theme. I love the sketched detail. Here's the man at work.

Still, like the Hare Cushion from last month, £95 is too much for a cushion. I'd be scared to sit on it.


Back to the woods for my next want.

Carousel Pencil Skirt by DB Berdan - Wolf and Badger

The contrast of the stripes and the hare print in this Carousel Pencil Skirt by DB Berdan is fantastic. I also love the colours; it's pastels Jim, but not as we know it.

This is now half price in the Wolf and Badger sale, but it's still a cool £120.


For my final wishlist item I'm moving away from the furry, woodland animals and onto the scuttling, beach dwellers.

Valentino Haute Couture Fall Winter 2013

A golden crab adorns this pearlescent clutch bag from the Valentino Haute Couture Fall Winter 2013 collection. The whole range is ocean themed, lots of octopus. I particularly like this bag because it feels that if you stare into it long enough, you'll see your future.

I suspect that never in my future will  be able to afford this crab.

Penguin Book Art Prints

The Great Gatsby - Easy Art Print

I love a good book print.
I love anything to do with books, so these new Penguin Prints from Easy Art caught my attention.

The Penguin covers, designed by Edward Young, are instantly recognisable and can usually guarantee that there's a good story inside.

Easy Art has quite a few of the triple stripe cover prints on canvas.

This week's (late) If I Were A Rich Woman post is inspired by my Alice in Wonderland Tattoo Trends post from earlier this week. So expect, rabbits, teacups and clocks galore.

I love the colours in this Alice's Adventures in Wonderland print, the teal and burgundy work well together. This would look very nice on my wall but at £99 it won't be there any time soon.

Next up, an Alice in Wonderland classic symbol, a pocket watch. I've wanted one for ages, I'm not really sure why as it's much easier to have one on your wrist, but there's something rather dapper about a pocket watch, especially this Gold Plated Mechanical Double Hunter Pocket Watch.

I love that you can see the clock work, the watch is traditional with a surreal edge.

Teacup Tea Light Burners for a tea party, these would look lovely dotted around the garden.
